4-hour International Building Code research saves a 1031 exchange and more than $250,000!
In the State of Colorado, a retail furniture store owner, engaged in a 1031 exchange with a local government agency. As the new owner worked through preparing the new building to receive his inventory and customers, the local building official made a surprise demand that fire sprinklers be installed. The owner’s architect concurred - sprinklers must be installed.
After receiving a call from the owner, our team sprang into action. Less than four hours later, the building official agreed with our reading of his jurisdiction’s building code and dropped the demand for fire sprinklers saving the owner more than $250,000.
